# Make Your First 5 Posts

Guide a website user from a topic or existing caption to a draft, media attachment, account selection, and verified publication. Distinguish AI Agent from older Remix controls.

This guide covers the Blotato website. Start with 1 draft and 1 destination, verify the result, then repeat for more posts. For an external assistant using API or MCP tools, use [Start with an AI agent](/start-with-an-ai-agent/agents.md).

1. Sign in to [Blotato](https://my.blotato.com).
2. Select Switch to Content Studio in the navigation menu if Developer Platform is selected.
3. Select [Post editor](https://my.blotato.com/agent).

Post editor opens the in-app AI Agent with a “Write posts about...” prompt box. New draft starts another draft when the draft workspace is open. The [older Remix screen](https://my.blotato.com/remix) uses “Add New,” “Add Post,” platform checkboxes, and “Generate Post.” Follow the instructions for the screen you opened. See [Website modes and navigation](/navigation.md) if a menu item is missing.

## Add Context

Context supplies source material for draft generation. Skip this section if you already have a caption to paste, or want to describe a topic in the prompt box.

1. Click the + button beside Context in the AI Agent sidebar.
2. Select Text.
3. Paste your notes or source text.
4. Click Add.
5. Confirm the source finished loading and its checkbox is selected.

For a YouTube video, choose YouTube instead of Text and paste its URL. Extraction requires English captions. Adding context does not generate or publish a post. See [Understanding Context](/web-app-getting-started/sources.md) for other source types, extraction failures, and saving sources.

## Select Platforms and Create Posts

### AI Agent

1. Enter “Create 1 LinkedIn post from my selected context. Keep it as a draft.” in the “Write posts about...” box. Replace LinkedIn with your destination, or describe your topic if you have no context.
2. Press Enter.
3. Wait for a draft card.
4. Review and edit its text before publishing.

If the draft workspace is already open, click New draft and replace the placeholder text to use your own caption. No context extraction is required.

For revisions, select the draft and use Chat. For example: “Shorten this draft for Threads without adding claims.” Selecting a platform in a prompt does not connect or select a publishing account.

### Older Remix screen

1. Add source material through Add New, or open an existing source.
2. Select the platform checkboxes and post counts. This screen supports up to 5 posts per generation.
3. Click Generate Post.
4. Review the resulting drafts.

The platform checkboxes choose draft formats, not connected publishing accounts.

## Add Images or Videos

1. Open the draft in the AI Agent.
2. Click Photo / Video.
3. Upload your image or video through the Upload tab.
4. Wait for the upload to finish and the attachment to appear on the draft.

Photo / Video is an upload dialog, not a template generator. For generated visuals, follow the [website video and carousel workflow](/web-app-features/videos/make-your-first-ai-video.md).

![Photo / Video opens the Add Media upload dialog](https://2374509648-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FevfU9S4Nh53PiGflQLah%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-28a6e6bd8952a94ee17842d2585cdc50bcd037f0%2Fui-upload-existing-media-2026-10.jpg?alt=media)

For 3 finished videos, create 3 drafts and attach 1 video to each. Review and schedule each draft. Selecting 3 destination accounts on 1 draft crossposts that draft, rather than creating 3 different videos.

Check the [destination's media requirements](/tips-and-tricks/social-platform-requirements.md) before publishing. Context extraction does not attach the source video to your post.

## Publish or Schedule Your Posts

These steps apply to the AI Agent. If you only want a draft, stop before publishing or scheduling.

DRAFT / Not scheduled yet means nothing has been sent. Opening the Schedule panel or selecting accounts does not submit the post.

![Draft status before the final scheduling action](https://2374509648-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FevfU9S4Nh53PiGflQLah%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-bd2ab3bfeddb6f39a66e448cdcf9a787208afe04%2Fui-draft-not-scheduled-2026-10.jpg?alt=media)

1. Connect your destination through [Accounts > Connect account](https://my.blotato.com/accounts) if it is not connected.
2. Select the draft card.
3. Open Schedule.
4. Select the destination account and any required Page or board.
5. Choose Now, Pick a time, or Next free slot time under Publish time.
6. For Pick a time, select the date and time. For Next free slot time, confirm the account has [recurring slots](/web-app-features/content-calendar/create-schedule.md).
7. Review the selected accounts, media, and time.
8. Click the final Publish now or Schedule button showing the number of pending accounts only when you intend to submit.
9. Check the result for each destination. Verify immediate publications in [Posts > Published](https://my.blotato.com/posts?status=published), or future entries in [Calendar](https://my.blotato.com/calendar).

A submitted request is not proof of publication. If a result is pending, failed, or missing, follow [Find a post's outcome before retrying](/start-with-an-ai-agent/publishing-status.md). Do not resend a post already published to another destination.

## Reuse a Post Across More Platforms

Select the additional connected accounts in Schedule, then follow the publication steps above. Do not include destinations which already received the post unless you intend to publish a duplicate.

If an account is missing, connect it through [Accounts > Connect account](https://my.blotato.com/accounts). If the draft workspace is open but the original draft is unavailable, click New draft and enter your caption.

## Different Platform Character Limits

Selecting several accounts does not rewrite 1 caption for each platform. A caption accepted by LinkedIn or Facebook might exceed the limit for Threads or a standard X account.

To create a shorter version:

1. Open the draft in the AI Agent.
2. Ask Chat to shorten the post for the destination.
3. Review the revision.
4. Select only the intended account before publishing or scheduling this version.

See [Social Platform Requirements](/tips-and-tricks/social-platform-requirements.md) for each platform's limits.

## Saved Draft Posts

AI Agent drafts are saved automatically and stay in the browser session where you created them. They do not appear on another device. If a post draft is missing from the AI Agent, open the [older Remix screen](https://my.blotato.com/remix) before troubleshooting the browser. Drafts created in Remix or moved back from scheduled posts often appear there. See [Find your drafts](/support/faqs.md#how-do-you-find-what-youve-created) and [Drafts on another device](/support/faqs.md#why-dont-my-drafts-show-up-on-my-phone-i-made-drafts-on-my-laptop-and-they-are-not-on-my-other-device).

Leave a draft unpublished to keep working on it. Scheduling commits it to future publication, so do not schedule as a substitute for saving. New draft starts another draft in the workspace. Confirming Discard drafts clears the current session's drafts and messages.

If drafts disappear in the same browser and are missing from Remix, copy any remaining text before taking further steps. Do not use Discard drafts or clear browser data to recover missing drafts. Send support the screen URL, approximate time, and the last action you took. Missing work is not proof of successful saving or recovery. See [draft troubleshooting](/tips-and-tricks/working-on-multiple-drafts.md#drafts-arent-being-created-or-are-missing).

## Bonus Tips for Better Content Quality

1. Check facts and quotations against the source.
2. Add your own experience or perspective.
3. Request more draft variations after reviewing the first result.

The [beginner tutorial](https://youtu.be/o5GsAxEX-Bk) and [5-post walkthrough](https://youtu.be/zVMaA7b_Wjk) provide demonstrations. If a recording shows different controls, use the screen-specific steps above.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.blotato.com/web-app-getting-started/posts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
