# Edit, mute, and export

Edit an existing visual, mute music or clip audio, choose MP4 or slideshow output, and create a draft from the verified export.

Scope: an existing visual in the Blotato video editor. Do not start another generation job when the user wants to edit, download, or post a visual they already created.

## Using Blotato Web App

### Open the existing visual

1. Open [Videos](https://my.blotato.com/videos).
2. Select the intended visual's thumbnail to open its editor. The pencil beside its title renames the visual.
3. Use Toggle Sidebar if the Text, Caption, Image, Shapes, Video, and Audio tools are hidden.
4. Identify whether the request concerns music, clip audio, generated narration, visible captions, or the exported file.

If the first page of Videos returns no saved visuals, Blotato opens "Choose a Template". This does not indicate a render is running. If you expected an existing visual, check the signed-in Blotato account and the visual's page link before starting another generation.

### Mute music or a clip's audio

1. Select the sound track or video clip on the timeline.
2. Find Volume in the selected item's settings.
3. Click Mute, or set its volume to 0%.
4. Play the timeline to check the result.
5. Export a new version using the steps below.

Mute affects the selected item, not every audio source. Use Unmute to restore its volume. Muting the browser or preview player does not change the exported file.

Generated narration belongs to the caption track. The caption voice controls do not provide this sound-track Mute control. Caption opacity hides text but does not mute narration. Do not prescribe a silent audio upload or caption opacity as a substitute for muting another track. See [voiceover and captions](/web-app-features/videos/ai-voiceover-captions.md) when the user wants to keep narration but hide its text.

### Export the requested format

1. Finish or resolve pending image and video generation. The editor blocks export while clips are unfinished. Do not remove clips without the user's approval.
2. Set Slideshow before clicking Export. Turn it off for MP4 video, or on for slide images.
3. Click Export in the top-right controls.
4. Wait for the export to finish. Starting the export is not completion.
5. Click Download for the finished result. Slide-image downloads produce `slides.zip`. Video downloads use the exported MP4.
6. Open the downloaded result and verify the requested edits and output format.

The export-history bell lists previous results and their states. If the newest export failed, inspect its error. An older successful export does not prove the latest edits were rendered. If a video opens in a browser tab, use the browser's save/download control. Do not assume the file was saved to the user's device.

### Make a post from the export

1. Verify the export includes the intended edits.
2. Click Create Post for the finished result.
3. Review the new draft in [Remix](https://my.blotato.com/remix).
4. Select the requested social destination and publishing time.
5. Publish or schedule only when the user requests it.
6. Verify the [post's resulting state](/web-app-features/content-calendar/tutorial.md#viewing-published-posts).

Create Post creates a draft. It does not publish to social accounts. Editing and exporting a visual does not replace media already attached to another draft, scheduled post, or published post. Inspect the intended post before another write. Do not create a duplicate post to repair an export.

## Using Blotato API (n8n / Make.com)

1. Identify whether the user needs template generation, processing of existing clips, or website-editor changes.
2. Read the selected [template's input schema](/rest-api-reference/visuals.md). The website's Mute control is not a universal REST or MCP argument.
3. For new template output, follow [Create and publish a visual](/agent-workflows/agent-workflows/visuals.md).
4. Wait for `done` and check errors before using the returned `mediaUrl` or `imageUrls`.
5. Review the result before a separate publication request.

In Combine Clips and Apply Basic Edits, `musicConfig.volume` controls added background music. It does not mute the source clips or every audio track. Do not invent an `originalAudioVolume` or universal `mute` field. For editor-only changes, use the website workflow above.

See [Create Visual](/rest-api-reference/create-video.md) and [Get Visual Status](/rest-api-reference/create-video/find-video.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.blotato.com/web-app-features/videos/edit-and-export.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
