# First Comment

Blotato posts a First Comment immediately after an Instagram or Facebook post publishes. First Comments work for posts published now and posts scheduled for later. The feature is available on every paid plan.

Use a First Comment for a link, additional context, or information you want outside the main caption.

## Using the Blotato Web App

1. Create an Instagram or Facebook post.
2. Open the platform options.
3. Enter your text in **First Comment**.
4. Publish the post now or schedule it.
5. Blotato publishes the comment after the post goes live.

## Using the Blotato API or MCP

1. Add `target.firstComment` to an Instagram or Facebook request in [Publish Post](/api/publish-post.md).
2. For MCP, pass `firstComment` to `blotato_create_post`.
3. Submit the post for immediate publishing or scheduling.

Facebook First Comments support up to 8,000 characters. Instagram First Comments support up to 2,200 characters. First Comments work on Facebook posts and reels, plus Instagram posts, carousels, and reels. Stories do not support First Comments.

For another platform, wait for the post to publish, then use [Post Comment](/api/comments.md#post-comment) where supported or comment on the social platform.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.blotato.com/features/first-comment.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
